Christmas Auction and Grand Raffle.

Crowds flocked to the December fund raiser held at Tahiche Garden Centre and an amazing 5,085 euros was raised at this event with proceeds coming from the
car boot sale, the auction and raffle ticket sales.
We would like to thank everyone involved including all the local businesses who donated goods for the raffle.
It was a long day and all the volunteers were exhausted but it was well worth the effort.

Joan Keeps on Running!

Once again, Joan Brown from Scotland has completed another Arrecife marathon
and raised much needed funds for the shelter. We are still collecting in sponsorship money so do not have the total as yet.

Summer News Update

Firstly, I should apologise that this update is long overdue. This was mainly because we changed our servers and met up with a problem or two!!

Charity Shop
Unfortunately, the charity shop in Costa Teguise has now closed. We were open for two months but missed out on the final month as the owners had found a tenant and they wanted to re-furbish it before the summer. It was very successful though and we raised a large sum of money for the SARA funds. Many thanks to all the volunteers who manned the shop or sorted the stock behind the scenes.
We are not looking for another premises as, upon further investigations, Spanish law states that if we open a retail premises
we have to obtain licences, submit accounts etc like any other business and ALL money raised by SARA as a whole would be taxed. As a non profitable charity we do not pay taxes at the moment and to go down this route will not be financially beneficial.
Still, it was good while it lasted.

Gunter, our kennel hand.

Many of you will know Gunter, one of our two kennel hands. He can usually be found looking after the puppies and young adults at the shelter. Unfortunately, Gunter was taken ill with a heart problem and was off work for three months. He had an operation and plenty of rest and he is now, thankfully, back at work on light
duties. The puppies certainly missed him (and so did we) and it is nice to see him back.

 

New Charity Shop 
Our exciting news for 2007 is we now have a Charity Shop in Playa Bastian, Costa Teguise. Local estate agent and property management company “Location” stepped up to the mark and donated the premises, free of charge, for three months. Open mornings from 9.30 am until 1.30 pm (closed Thurs and Sun) the shop is doing well with donations coming in fast and furious. The only drawback is there is no storage space so we are asking that donations are made to the shelter in Tahiche on Tuesday and Friday mornings. Alternatively, other arrangements can be made by phoning 646 838 749. We would like to open 7 days a week so if you would like to volunteer to help in the shop please call the same number.

New Website Launch
Our brand new website was launched on the 28th March. Designed and sponsored by Gandy-Draper it is packed with useful information.
